HoverSmack() and Webservices

i've been playing around with my HoverSearch() script, which i now dub the HoverSmack(), and am playing around with the idea of consolidating it into one script, but adding another argument so i can pass in which type of webservice i want to access via the HoverSearch()... at the moment, i've added: MSN Search, Flickr, Yahoo! Web Search, Yahoo! Image Search, and Yahoo! Video Search... it's still a work in progress, but here's an example:

since i'm playing around with this and making changes, previous "hoverSearch" links probably won't work anymore... but them's the breaks, if you ask me... now with a single script and function call, i can easily execute a search using different webservices to grab me fresh data, from within my blog entries... i dunno, but i think it's kewl as hell.

i also added another FooHeader theme — Veronica

dunno why, but i'm really liking the bright green color these days... maybe it'll become the "new blue" of 2005, instead of brown?

I'm just starting to research AJAX and wanted to see some examples. HoverSmack looks like a very practical use of AJAX.
Is there any chance you could show me some sample of your server side cfm code that handle the various xmlhttp request?

the Flickr one seems dog ass slow to me... the MSN one is fast, which is why i really prefer'd it... i still never got a damn answer back from Scoble about the disclaimer on the RSS feeds for MSN Search, so i've been sorta shy about using it... i'd be seriously pissed off if i got a letter or email from Micrsoft about the use of their MSN Search content, y'know?

i like the approach of Yahoo!, but they also have a cap of 5,000 requests per AppID/IP Address, which they track and keep tabs on.... *sighs*

actually, i'm pulling the RSS feed from the "beta.search.msn.com" domain, instead of "search.msn.com"... dunno why, but i still cant pull it directly from the live site.

figure i'll just have to use the Yahoo! webservice until i figure out why MSN Search wont let me pull the damn feed... ugh.
