Future of IE7
here's some interesting tidbits about the future of IE7, gathered from some chat session they had with the IE team and assorted other browser/internet geeks and enthusiasts... here's a summery of a few facts from the session:

- There are no plans in having "active desktop" support for Internet Explorer 7.
- No "download manager" will be included in Internet Explorer 7. The "download manager" first appeared in early alpha builds of Windows Vista (previously known as Windows Codename Longhorn). Jason Watters had this to say – "It is not "too hard", we just are not able to implement a download manager with the level of high quality that we want in the timeframe of this release."
- Internet Explorer 6 will not run alongside Internet Explorer 7
- A Parental Control feature might be also implanted in Internet Explorer 7.
- More customize features for tab browsing.
- There won't be any custom skins or styles.
- No Mac support.
- Web Developer tools might be included in the release of Internet Explorer 7.
- The installation of Internet Explorer 7 will not be optional during a clean or upgrade of a Windows Vista installation.
- Internet Explorer 7 won't include Java.
- Internet Explorer 7 won't support Windows 2000.
i'm not exactly sure why a "download manager" would be too hard to include with the next version and release of the Internet Explorer browser, but oh well.... not really a biggie, especially if they do a good job on the "standards" support that peolpe have been practically cry'n and begging about for years now -- if they do a good job on that, then i think much will be forgiven and forgotten ![]()
the part about "web developer tools" kinda got my attention and had me curious what exactly that means.... the other part about it being a non-standalone install, kinda sucks, and is downright disappointing, to be perfectly honest... *sigh*
