when i saw mention of the comment notifier in the Profossional Ajax book yesterday, it made me want to revisit the FooComment Checker that i've had off-and-on around here for awhile... so i played around with it a lil bit yesterday, and thought i'd go ahead and throw it back in.

it's been rewritten a bit, but it's basically the same thing except for style'n it differently... hasnt been fully tested, and i'm sure i missed something or didnt account for something else, but that's usually the way of it anyways, isnt it? *nods head*

anyfoo... i'll leave it in over the weekend to test.

that's the only one i know that works (iframe hack), esp. with older versions of IE, etc... here's to hoping they get that right in IE7, which i think i read something about over at the IEBlog.

even so, it'll be years until it's widely adopted enough to not really worry about... until then? *shrugs*

The only way I know of, which is a complete hack, is to absolutely position an iframe over the movie/activex object, then place your DIV over that. Like I said, total hack, but if you wanna play around with it...

Hmm, thought there was a work around that hid the layer with the embedded content if another div moved over it (visibility?).

not a big flash guy, but i think that's the first i've read about a "wmode" param for embedded flash... have to throw that into the code that writes the FooVid player to the page, and give it a shot ;)

it's actually supposed to fade-out, but doesnt seem to be working properly.... at least for the moment ;)

as for it showing over the foovids, that's cuz you cant position a div over an embedded object in IE... cant put anything over 'em, actually.

lol that's mint. Only thing i could notice though, is that the notify pop-up box is displays underneath the foovideos. Don't know if that's an easily addresable issue? ;p looking great though!

One detailish thing: fade the comment box out. It fades in, it needs to fade out!

i probably could loop through and update the CommentCount as well if i wanted to, but i'd put that in a seperate script/function than the comment_checker.

something for another day, though... feel like i've got too much shit going on as it is already
