i'm sure that everybody was all over the news and tidbits about the mac updates yesterday, and now that we've had a day to digest and ponder the implications such things might have on the universe i find myself sitting here wondering.... hmmmm, is the new 24" iMac with double the ram and hard drive space worth $1499?

New 24 inch iMac, with double the ram and hard drive...

was just reading the specs on gizmodo, and i have to say it looks like a pretty sweet 24" iMac computer for the $1499 pricetag:

• 24-inch widescreen LCD display;
• 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB shared L2 cache;
• 4GB 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM expandable to 8GB;
• NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics;
• 640GB Serial ATA hard drive running at 7200 rpm;
• a slot-load 8x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW);
• Mini DisplayPort for video output (adapters sold separately);
• built-in AirPort Extreme 802.11n wireless networking & Bluetooth 2.1+EDR;
• built-in iSight video camera;
• Gigabit Ethernet port;
• four USB 2.0 ports;
• one FireWire 800 port;
• built-in stereo speakers and microphone; and
• the Apple Keyboard, Mighty Mouse.

so whatcha guys think.......... is it worth it? i'm kind of on the fence at the moment... would love to get another mac at the house, and figure i could alwasy just dual-boot or install parallels for any windows apps i need... but at this point, i feel like i could easily get around 90% of what i normally do done on the mac — the only thing i'm not liking is that new mini-keyboard thing they're now including... seriously, would it have killed them to keep the damn numeric pad? *blink*
