Obama Sinking Ship

Heads should roll:Obama's clumsy smirky staff is sinking him...
Obama, the first president to look like a jackass wearing motion sensing outfit in order truly capture his illuminated 3D presense...Yes, free the president from his flacks, fixers and goons -- his posse of smirky smart alecks and provincial rubes, who were shrewd enough to beat the slow, pompous Clintons in the mano-a-mano primaries but who seem like dazed lost lambs in the brave new world of federal legislation and global statesmanship.

Heads should be rolling at the White House for the embarrassing series of flubs that have overshadowed President Obama's first seven weeks in office and given the scattered, demoralized Republicans a huge boost toward regrouping and resurrection. (Michelle, please use those fabulous toned arms to butt some heads!)

First it was that chaotic pig rut of a stimulus package, which let House Democrats throw a thousand crazy kitchen sinks into what should have been a focused blueprint for economic recovery. Then it was the stunt of unnerving Wall Street by sending out a shrill duo of slick geeks (Timothy Geithner and Peter Orszag) as the administration's weirdly adolescent spokesmen on economics. Who could ever have confidence in that sorry pair?

i saw this over on digg and nearly fell out of my chair reading through the first few comments... i'm still kind of in shock, i think... for example, here's the first comment by waggdogg:

The orchestrated attack on radio host Rush Limbaugh, which has made the White House look like an oafish bunch of drunken frat boys.
That's the problem, the White House is now full of these frat boys and becoming an animal house.

yeah.... on digg... amazing.

@Justin I'm sorry that you take only Liberal publications as fact. And the op/ed is based in facts from the Congressional Budget Office. Just because he is an Economics professor rather than a professional journalist you're saying that his discussion has no merits? Rather than just shoot down the sources, say why what's written is actually wrong.

Did you read where I said it was the states and charities are supposed to be doing the work that the federal government is trying to force on us? Guess how States get their funding... tada! Taxes! Guess how charities get their money... tada! Donations!

The Federal government of the United States was only put in place to protect the people of the states from outside harm and resolve disputes between states. Many states are passing resolutions to make sure the Federal government remembers who is supposed to be in charge.

And this laying all the blame on Bush you're doing makes your arguments idiotic. The economic problems we have date back to every president since FDR. Carter made it worse, Reagan spent too much money in my opinion to get us out of the hole Carter dug, Bush Sr actually didn't do much but ride on the Reagan spending, Clinton rode on the Reagan spending and the advancement of PCs, let the housing bubble balloon with his National Ownership Strategy and then Bush let that bubble continue and tried to throw some money on the problem. Now Obama is just continuing to try to throw money at the problem. Go ahead and blame Bush, but make sure you blame everyone else responsible as well.

@Gene
1) Well, first argument against this is simple. It draws from above. States should be in charge of this, not the federal government. Just as doctors specialize in medicines, states can specialize in what care is needed for that area. What works for California won't work for South Carolina. Health care isn't one size fits all. Secondly, have you seen how the US government handles their money? How can we expect to put our health care and saved money in their hands? The problem with the banks is they've gotten TOO big and you want to make them bigger (look what they did with Freddy and Fannie). The Federal government doesn't work the way it is now. The Founding Fathers understood that. That's why we have the 10th Amendment, a clear statement that limits the Federal government and makes sure that congress only follow the items in Article 1, Section 8. Health Care and Banking is not listed in the list of items for general welfare or common defense.

2) Your second point is not correct in the way you word it. Rush has repeatedly said he hopes, in the event that Obama's policies are socialist, that Obama fails. I agree whole-heartedly. Why should I work harder to provide for my family when the harder I work the more the government takes from me to provide for someone else? It should be my freedom to choose what I want to donate too. It should fall upon the state, not a socialized federal government to help in that regard as they see fit. This would allow for better policies and better safegaurds to make sure the system isn't being abused like it is now.

Basically, I think about it like this. Liberals tell conservatives to stay out of their lives but when it comes to flipping the bill for something that happens, they want others to pay. If I can't tell you what to do in the bedroom or moutain climbing, hikings, parachuting, sailing, speeding, running, drinking, drugs, or a number of other riskier activities then why should I be FORCED to pay your bill when that causes you harm?

And the crowd goes silent.

@ Jeremy

I agree with you Obama isn't doing all he could to "change" DC like he said he would do. His choices refect that. And Bush was a royal doucher, A-1 fuck-up... His polices and his choices helped to solidify that fact.

@ Jonathan

I would be willing to to hear you out but your sources suck bro. Both are Rupert Murdoch owned News Corp. sources and ones an op/ed. The WSJ op is all about Obama's "fearmongering" Great Depression talk. Eh We had better start talking about that time if we want to learn how to stop what's happening now. Lets get real on this problem now. The second is kinda funny, Carville is a snake... his wife is Mary Matalin a real snake too. They just play sides for money. Weak back up at best for a point you contradict by the end. Eeek! "Hypocrisy at it's worst" is people who say they want America to succeed and then say but I don't want to pay for it! (in taxes). Can't have it both ways.

1) Can someone please lay out a coherent argument as to why we should not socialize the health care and banking system in our country? Remember I said 'coherent'...

2) When you have Rush saying things like "I hope Obama fails" - how can anyone take your party (the Republican Party) serious anymore? Please be 'coherent' in your replies.

The Republican party no longer represents conservatism, and that's the problem. Our current economic woes stem from Government getting its hands into areas where it shouldn't, and while one party is primarily pro big government, both parties contributed to the mess we're in now.

50 days in or not, President Obama chose the wrong path when he signed the non-stimulus bill, and every economic decision he's made since taking office has been absolutely wrong. Regardless of how many days he's been in office, I will criticize him as long as he continually enacts already proven to fail policies.

I did the same thing with Bush, so why should I change with Obama?

Kevin: ALL REPUBLICANS CAN DO IS COMPLAIN. But we are team players so join us.

8 years of Bush stole the election! Carville wanting Bush to fail. Complaining about Bush "fear mongering" when Obama is doing the same now. Complaining about letting people keep more of their own money that they earn and letting families keep more of the money they have at death (and have already paid taxes on). So complain away when a Republican is president and then complain that Republican's complain when a Democrat is president. Hypocrisy at it's worst.

So don't try to make Republicans out to be the complainers here. We all complain about something and that's what we should do when we see something going wrong. And Obama's policies are wrong. Bush was wrong to start the bailouts and Obama is wrong to continue it. Obama is wrong to take money from people who earn it to provide health care/welfare to drug addicts, people that spit out babies and can't afford them and just plan lazy fucks. That's either a charity's job or a state's job. It's not the federal government's job.

My hope is that America succeeds. But if Obama continues to socialize the federal government, I pray that he does fail to succeed. Through that failure, American can succeed.

I live in a fairly liberal area in Pittsburgh, but alot of my family on my wife's side are republicans. They do nothing but complain, just like the rest of the republicans in the US. They don't know how to be team players AT ALL. The blame does not fall on ANY ONE PARTY. It started with Clinton (subprime mortgages etc.), whom I think was a badass president, and it just got extremely worse with Bush! The fact is that we need to now step up, join together, and learn from these mistakes. We as a country have been through much worse and have come out on top, it will happen again if we support EVERYONE. My wife and I are very responsible and pay our mortgage ahead of time, along with all our other bills, but even though we are dissapointed with the way things are going, we know that the things involved in the "bailout" are neccessary. If we do nothing, let the gov't do nothing, this country WILL fail. It is a short term fix that we then get to have placed back into the private sector. Obama is not a "socialist", he is a realist and a good one. This teleprompter talk, WHO F'N CARES!!! WHat about during his whole campaign???? He does not want to make mistakes or mispeek, like Bush did everyday of his presidency!! He is not the savior by himself, but he is the best person for the job right now!!! Big Smile

I just love how delusional republicans have become... It's to the point where it's as if they're saying ridiculous shit just to say it. Just to get under our skin - for no other reason than to pick a fight. 8 years with some of the most incompetent, underhanded goons we've ever come across and it's Obama's administration that are the "frat boys" or "clumsy and smirky." Why not get on the side trying to fix the problems you've created ya fuckin' arrogant SOB's.

WTH...he's been in office for 50 days. Not to mention he's trying to undo what the past 8 years has done!

The people need to rise up and make the government fear the people, but most of us are so "tuned" out with our "iPods, iPhones, and now foO iBooks" -- I'm to blame as well! No..No..not the iEverything, I'm just "tuned" out.
