definitely has some heft to it, which makes it just feel nice and solid in the palm of your hand... but i guess the real question is: would you trade your iphone in for one?
my answer: nope.
if i was still on verizon and really didn't want to switch over to AT&T for the iPhone, i'd definitely pick one up if i was in the market for a new phone... it's not the iphone, for sure, but it has a lot of the same features and gets close... man, even with the new droid, it just hits home just how fucking smooth and slick the UI is on the iphone.
p.s. do you guys say "my iphone" or just "my phone"? not sure if i'm in the minority here or not, but i've been saying "my iphone" since i got it... though sometimes it just seems a little weird when saying it more than once in a conversation. just curious.
update: here's the Droid user-agent, for the curious...
75.197.120.60 - - [06/Nov/2009:13:48:32 -0500] "GET /cfr HTTP/1.1" 404
769 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.0; en-us; Droid Build/ESD20)
AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17"

after standing around for a bit, i finally got to get my hand on one to play around with... initially thought it was going to be kinda weird, but i was surprised at just how quickly i got the hang of it... did have a couple "oh shit?!" moments, mostly with the back-n-forward swipes on the mouse, but it really is pretty damn cool.
i was a little bummed that they didn't have any of the new 27" iMac's setup... guess i'll have to swing back to check those out later.
p.s. anybody run out and buy one yet?

being in an office were just about everybody has a macbook pro, i'm sure you can imagine some of the jokes and snide remarks... *chuckles*
p.s. don't forget, you still have time to order your very own Windows 7 Party Pack... it's not too late!

first thing i did after hooking up the various cables and turning it on was slap in that Win7 disk and reboot... then started the install, formatted the drive, and sat back while it did it's thing -- total time to install it was around 20-25 minutes or so, along with a reboot or two... not bad at all, man.
haven't really had too much time to play around with it yet, but i did manage to copy over most of my data from the other computer and installed the CS4 Master Suite... first app to actually open on Windows 7? Adobe Photoshop (64-bit), and man did it scream... also fired up the Adobe Encoder app and ripped a video, just to see how it performed, and it tore right through it pretty damned fast... overall, things just feel a little snappier, a little cleaner as far as visuals go.... speaking of visuals, not too much is different from Vista really -- the updated Taskbar, and some subtle tweaks to the windows is about all i really noticed right away.
p.s. major thanks to _________ for the software, i owe ya one buddy!

this is actually probably one of the more powerfoo pc's i've had, and it's the first HP that i've ever ordered or purchased... for a long time i just built my own, or continuously upgraded various hardware on my computer... so it's been ages since i've actually had a new desktop computer, minus the Dell Studio Hybrid i got last year.... anywho, here's some quick specs:
• Intel Core 2 Quad-core 2.33Ghz
• 8 GB DDR3 RAM
• 750 GB HDD
• nVidia GeForce 9500 GS with 512MB
• 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N
• 6 USB 2.0; 2 FireWire; 1 Ethernet; 1 HDMI; 2 PS/2
• LightScribe
not too shabby, aye?

he had his orientation last week, so at least he had a sense of where to go and where the hell his locker was and all that... actually, he and some friends discovered what they termed the "magic booty", which had me laughing... seeing my son holding his hands out, with a big smile on his face, telling me about the most perfect ass he's ever seen -- well, had me swelling with pride, man.
probably had to be there, but it was one of those moments you just tend to remember. heh.
anywho, i usually don't blog about personal stuff around here (learned my lessons on that), but figured i'd make an exception today.... g'luck jayden, and knock 'em dead mang.

now i need to pickup some cappucino cups... had my first cup of joe around midnight lastnight, with an empty guinness pint glass... definitely should've waited, because i didn't sleep for shit. *blink*

to be honest, that was the least painfoo OS upgrade i've ever done in my life... seriously, i just put in the disc, hit a "continue" button or two, and it went right into the install... the progress bar said it'd take approximately 49 minutes when it started, so i went into the living room and watched some football (Cowboys v. 49ers)... checked back on it an hour later and everything was done. wow, that was easy!
haven't really played around with it much, other than firing up Safari and iMail, which prompted me for my gmail password but that's about it... my notes or stickies seemed to have disappeared, which kind of sucked... then i opened up Photoshop CS4, which fired up just fine and seemed to be working as usual -- though i did go into the Preferences and noticed that it looks like it's only registering 3GB of RAM, instead of the 4GB i have on my mac... dunno what that's about.
all in all, it was totally painless and does seem a little more zippy, though i'm not sure how much of that is real or in my head... just what it feels like, especially when you shutdown or fire up Safari.

Snow Leopard: what's broken (or working) for you?
Remember that time you installed Windows XP before it even hit the market? Remember how your AGP video card would only display a maximum resolution of 800 x 600 and your audio card would only emit bleeps and bloops? Ah, those were the days. Quite a bit has happened since XP landed to wash away the awful stain that was Windows ME, though it's still no shock to hear that new operating systems leave more than a few applications broken. Over the past few days, we've seen oodles of gripes from across the web from loyal Mac users who just can't believe Snow Leopard has borked their favorite software, but we're wondering how things have been on your machine. Have you realized that your Optimus Maximus no longer boogies with OS X 10.6? Are you bummed that iStat pro isn't giving you the details it used to? What kind of hell has broken loose since you threw caution in the garbage and updated your machine?
so now i'm wondering.... should i go ahead and install Snow Leopard or not?

here's a snippet in case you're curious...

it's almost funny how excited i am about getting and doing my first OS upgrade on a mac... never done it before, so i can't help but be curious about it -- i just hope it's better and smoother than Windows upgrades can sometimes be... at this point, i usually don't even bother upgrading Windows when new OS's come out... i just format and install a fresh copy, install all my apps, and sometimes will 'ghost' it.
p.s. they're going to run out of cats one of these days...

first Broncos game against the Bengals will hopefully be playing in my living room on sunday, Sept. 13th -- damn that feels like ages away... damnit.
p.s. looks like it's going to be a very tough season for my broncos this year.

yeah, the quality really sucks and doesn't come close to how it looks in person when sitting down on the couch watching it... but even so, what a great animated flick -- hope they come out with more of 'em.
